Creative taste
The idea
Creative research is most useful when it becomes a habit instead of a rescue mission. Looking at strong work for ten focused minutes every day gives your brain repeated examples of what a hook, format, or visual choice can look like.
The goal is not to copy a post or write a detailed report about every example. It is to build a larger reference library in your head so you can recognize useful patterns while making your own work.
The practice
- Study high-performing work in your niche and outside it.
- Use a deliberate collection rather than whatever the feed happens to show you.
- Revisit examples instead of saving them once and forgetting them.
- Notice the premise, hook, format, psychology, proof, and visual progression.
- Apply the principle to your own topic and point of view.
The finished Robert Reel used nine examples in its opening grid and then contrasted passive saving with deliberate study. The visual system supported the lesson: repeated exposure to varied examples is the practice being recommended.
This is a creative-training point of view, not a controlled study. The source production does not establish a measured number of days required to improve or prove that passive exposure alone causes better performance.
Robert’s final script
These nine videos went absolutely bonkers. They’re all in completely different niches, but I make it a point to watch thousands of videos like this every day.
Most people watch one video, maybe save it to their bookmarks, and move on. They never look at it again.
But the best creators and business owners do something different, and it’s easier than you think. They just keep watching. That’s it.
No deep analysis, no note-taking, just 10 minutes a day looking at a database of videos of what’s working on social in your niche and outside of it.
Do this for a few weeks and your brain starts training itself. You don’t even have to try. You’ll start recognizing the format, the hooks, the psychology behind it without thinking about it.
Comment “train” and I’ll send you a link to that database. Thousands of videos that have done crazy numbers so you can start training your brain.
