This watch has come to my bench as not running.
This watch has come to my bench as not running. The crown is off and as you can see the scotch tape is kind of all that's holding it together. So, what we're going to do is we're going to restore this thing today. That's right. You know what I love to do here. I love to bring back these little pieces of history. I think that they're important. Okay, crystal is off. Taking a look at it, I want to see if it's damaged. Sometimes crystals get cracked. People will use tape like this to try to kind of keep them together. I'm not actually seeing any cracks on the crystal itself. It looks like the crystal may have been off for quite a while because there is a bundle of hair around the hands. And that will stop the watch on its own. If those hands can't turn, it will actually stop the watch. So, I'll take off some of that. It looks like there's a little bit of damage to the very outer ring of the dial here, probably because the crystal was missing for a while. So, maybe a little bit of corrosion happened or something like that. It luckily looks like it's all the way up against the edge.

- 06The Damage Assessment
Reveal one more secondary problem, suggest its likely cause, and end with a cautiously positive assessment that preserves room for the next repair step.
