How This DIY Kitchen Makeover Grew My Following to 100K

I'm sure most of the Internet has seen my kitchen by now, but I've made some recent upgrades and I'm excited to show you. Back in 2020, I built some plywood boxes to take our cabinets to the ceiling because I hated that empty spot above it. I also painted them, and it turned out really, really good. In fact, so good that it took my Instagram account from 10,000 to over 100,000 overnight. Recently, we got rid of our microwave altogether, so that way I could add a vent hood. And the Internet hated that I got rid of my microwave. I had no idea that would be so controversial. But I love my vent hood cover. It turned out so good. I added oak to it because I have it all throughout my house. But then after that was done, I felt like the space was just missing something. In my last reel, I showed y' all that I had to remove the kitchen hutch that I built because we replaced our countertops and I decided not to put it back. I built a whole new one, which meant I needed to build all new doors. And I used the tongue and groove method on these instead of pocket holes. Instead of a wood panel in the center of these, I opted for reeded glass and had the glass professionally installed. Once we got these installed, I knew exactly what those upper cabinets were missing. So I got to work building some new doors. I built these out of primed pine. Have I mentioned how messy the router is? I need a dust collection system in this garage so bad, I'm covered in sawdust all the time. Once the doors were all put together and routed, it was time to get it painted. I opted for the Spra sprayer because it gives the smoothest finish. Also, this new sprayer I have is amazing. I also added a clear coat to it as well. Now, the goal here is to have these cabinet doors look as close to the builder grade cabinet doors as possible. And I think I did a pretty good job with that one. I wanted these cabinet doors to open up instead of sideways. So I found these hinges that you don't have to install those hinge holes, which is really nice. I've used these hinges several times now for lift up doors, and they work really good and they're soft close. We were using a work light inside so we could see what we were doing when we were installing them. But now I kind of want to add lights up there. What do you think you could tell here? That I was super excited for the way they were looking. So as a reminder, this is what it looked like when they were just open. And this is what it looks like with the readed glass doors on there. When I threw this idea out to my audience, there was a lot of people that did not want me to put doors up there. But now that they're there, what do you think? I'm kind of in love with the way they turned out, and I think they look so much more elegant now. Can you believe this is what my kitchen looked like before and today it looks like this, all with DIY work. So, no, I'm not going to leave it to the professionals like so many people suggest I do.
