TitleWhy AI Tokens are so Expensive - Computerphile
I thought given how much it's been in the news about costs of AI and you know agentic coding and how much you pay per month and all this stuff I thought we could look at what is a token and why is it so unbelievably expensive. This is happening everywhere. So for example, Anthropic have more caps on for their premium users. You might hit a cap where you have to go and wait for a while sooner than you used to. for the the famous recent one was the GitHub co-pilot change which changed from a requestbased monthly cost to a AI token credit monthly cost which has substantially reduced the amount you can do per month and we can talk about why that is and why essentially it was inevitable given how expensive it is to run those agentic coding models.
