Analysis
Burger King UK opened an International Women’s Day thread with a sexist statement. The later scholarship explanation failed to prevent a widely reported backlash.
“Women belong in the kitchen.”

Why it worked
This execution drew attention but failed to carry its intended explanation. The short first post could travel without the later replies about women in professional kitchens. Readers could reasonably interpret the standalone text as the brand’s position. The example shows why reach alone does not prove that an ad worked.
Lesson
Put essential meaning in the first post when each post can circulate alone.
